I've posted these on Tumblr before but I think they're seriously cool so I'm uploading them here as well. I love seeing how other people work, by watching timelapse videos or seeing step by step photos, so I thought I'd share these from some paintings I've created over the years!

It was only a matter of time before I drew the two cutest League of Legends critters together. I can't play Gnar to save my LIFE but he is my absolute favourite champion. I mean, look at this cutie.

Back from BUCK but I haven't had time to write up a con report yet! However, I discovered this Sai Watercolour Tutorial by Bluekomadori the other day and just had to try it out the moment I got home! I can't believe how realistic it can look (and this is without much practice!) Can't wait to do a finished piece in this style and print it out on watercolour paper! Will do a con report about BUCK later this week! In short though, it was awesome!

Tomorrow after work I'm driving 4 hours up to Manchester for BUCK! It's the third BUCK and my third time selling there, so I'm pretty excited to be back! For those who don't know what BUCK is, it's a Brony convention in the UK. For those of you who don't know what a Brony is, and you've somehow missed that phenomenon, it's basically an adult fan of the new My Little Pony cartoon, 'Friendship is Magic'. 'Friendship is Magic' kinda took off in a huge way when it came out a few years back, which for an old-school MLP collector like myself, was pretty weird! I mean, I spent my childhood being teased for liking My Little Ponies, and now they're the cool thing to like? Bizarre! Anyway, suffice to say, the emphasis at BUCK is on My Little Pony merchandise and goodies, so I'm taking along a bunch of rainbow horse art. I'm also going to throw in some of my video game / pop culture merchandise too, just in case! I figure, if you're a fan of cartoons, you're probably into video games and sci fi, too, right? I'm super pleased with these mugs I ordered, too! I used Awesome Merchandise, a company I'm forever buying badges from, and I was a little apprehensive because I've never ordered anything as substantial as a mug before, so I was worried the art wouldn't translate very well. I'm so happy to say they look lovely! I ordered 12 and I'm hoping to sell them all this weekend. Wish me luck!

This is one of the new prints I'll have for sale over at BUCK this weekend! I'll be a vendor there again selling all sorts of pony (and probably a few non pony!) related goodies. I've created a couple of new for the convention. Sadly it's looking like it'll be the last BUCK so I want to go out with a bang!
As an oldschool My Little Pony fan, I was really giddy when they revealed the newest big baddie to be Tirak! He's a re-imagining of the very first MLP villain from the first ever cartoon, 'Firefly's Adventure' (originally released as 'Rescue at Midnight Castle') and it's a lovely nod to the original show! I found a new pad of watercolour paper I'd never yet even touched, and decided I'd take a break from commissions to try it out! The paints are a cheap brand I found in The Works years ago, but I love them because they are super glittery! It's quite subtle in real life until it catches the light, and then it just looks so pretty, and perfect for a cartoony little unicorn!

A while ago I had the privilege of working for a company called Soapasaurus, who produce gorgeous, often nerdy themed soaps that smell so good. Like me, they attend a lot of conventions around the country, and they've created a My Little Pony character called Bubble Bright to feature on some of their labels! This 'Spring' themed soap is wonderful, featuring an adorable Easter Egg design (seriously, how cute is that??) and they describe the scent as "A fresh and green floral fragrance with cucumber skin and watery notes of refreshing melon on the top. Supported by a rich floral accord of rose, lily and cyclamen enhanced by fruity, peach musk accents". So good! Soapasaurus have many other wonderful products, including Doctor Who, Game of Thrones, World of Warcraft and Pokemon inspired soaps! The Doctor Who soaps are Rose scented for crying out loud! These guys rock, and I seriously suggest you all try 'em out and give Lush a run for their money! All of their soaps are 100% Vegetarian too! http://www.soapasaurus.com This post is not sponsored! I've created work for Soapasaurus (and will hopefully have the pleasure of doing so again!) but all opinions are my own. And in my opinion, they rock. So there. Buy soap! Be clean! Smell great!

This is one of my pieces for the Confuzzled art show! I can't be at the con myself (it clashes with MCM Expo and as much as I'd love to go back to Confuzzled, I just can't justify losing the money I make at MCM. it sucks!) But! The lovely Stefi has so kindly offered to hang some pieces in the art show on my behalf!
This year's theme is 'The World of Tomorrow', which breaks my heart because I love retro science fiction and vintage futurism! I'm seriously so bummed I can't attend this year! Hopefully next time it won't clash, because Confuzzled had to be the most friendly con I've had the pleasure of attending. This is going to be a one off large format print, mounted and ready to frame. I'm super happy with how the print turned out, my new Epson printer is a godsend: Tags:
Today was one of those really lazy, 'dead' Saturdays where I wanted to get so much done and yet succeeded in doing absolutely nothing. Well, I say nothing. Today I played Team Fortress 2, League of Legends, Awesomenauts and Don't Starve. In that respect it was quite productive, because I hardly ever play Awesomenauts and I've never touched Don't Starve despite buying it last year somewhen. Much like 99% of my Steam library. I have a Steam Sale Problem, okay? I did manage to sort out my little art corner, though. I've been in a heck of a funk lately. I have conventions around the corner and I know I need to draw new pieces for them, but I just can't seem to find a spark. People give me ideas all the time but it all seems to fall flat. I know what I want to draw, I just don't know how I want to draw it. That's kind of the reason I've thrown myself so heavily into the necklaces, because at least they're something new and exciting if not actual art pieces. Blah. Maybe the conventions just aren't close enough yet. I've always 'joked' that if it weren't for the eleventh hour, I'd get nothing done. :P Anyway, in sorting out my desk, I realised I never did share this marker card! Marker cards are meant to be fast and fun, so I'm using them as a chance to draw things I love, but wouldn't normally draw. I'm a huge Nightmare Before Christmas fan. I owe so, so much to the movie, but that's a blog for another time. I've never actually sat down and drawn any of the characters before, so I figured the marker cards were a great way to change that!
I'm really happy, too! Somebody bought my Twilight Sparkle & Spike marker card from Etsy a while back, and the other day they sent me a message saying how gorgeous it was and how happy they were with it! It means so much to hear from happy customers. It's nice knowing you're doing something right, even when you're in the middle of a big ol' art funk. Tags:
